The Department of International Studies and History organised a panel discussion entitled ‘India – Then and Now' for its second semester HEP students on 24th January 2019 at the Sky view auditorium. The main aim of the Panel Discussion was to acquaint the students with the developments of the First Five Year Plans and the progress that it had achieved thereupon. Two teams concentrating on Transport, Communication and Foreign Policy made the presentation on the respective topics. The first team started with giving a brief about the condition of transportation and communication during the pre- independence era, and they continued by explaining the objectives of the first three five year plans for Transport and Communication and concluded with the existing progress and developments of transport and communication sectors in India. The second team introduced the topic by giving a glimpse about the basic ideals of the foreign policy under Jawaharlal Nehru, and elaborated on various aspects like revival of education, industry, defence which were part of the first three Five Year Plans. They concluded with a note emphasising on the Nehru’s foreign policy even now.
